I just read that you lost your job recently. It is brave thing to announce it publicly on Blog.
I know how you feel, and I know how you will feel soon, in couple of days of weeks if you do not find another job, soon as your brain and your soul realized what happened.
Now you are still fresh in shock, not yet aware, so beware! I am talking to from my experience. I have lost couple of works, three to be precise. I was extremely devoted to those jobs and working hard days and nights in struggle to keep them. In my homeland, Bosnia is very hard thing to find a proper job, and job at all. Employment providers are well aware of huge misbalance in ratio employment- employers, and they literally squeezing clerks until lost drop of strength. After destroying another one of workers, there is hundreds of new fresh, thirsty for affirmation, on marketplace.
After loosing of my jobs, at first, I was telling to my self that I am happy, that this is relief. That job was awfully stressed and cruel slavery (that is the truth). But, large but, life change, disappointment, lost of a battle, lost of income, lost of courage and self-confidence, or simply change of daily routine led me every time in trouble with my body weight. I am not devoted to my physical appearance, but I do like to maintain my body shape in healthy and suitable measurements. Every time, after loosing of job in a blink of an eye I gained over ‘’’’ pounds and had lot of trouble to rid of them. It is usually to late when it happens (I mean on gaining of weight).
It is simply happened naturally, after couple of late mornings in bed, sleeping disorder, wearing of comfortable, cozy home’s clothes. There was not much of eating, nothing unusual, that is why I did not noticed that I am gaining fat, because I was eating the same amount as always, nothing more, or to often. It was simply lack of every day’s stress at work. That stress was burner of calories.
Therefore, my dear, new friend, be aware! This is friendly advice. From my personal experience, there is nothing pleasant in struggle with overweight. Believe or not it has significant effects on psychological strength and impact on self-confidence.

Hi Victoria! Glad you're landing on your feet. Same thing happened to me years ago, thrusting me into freelancing, and it was the best thing that every happened to me. Do your networking and whatever you need to do to take care of yourself and trust us to enjoy your blogposts when you get time to do them.

Even though I hope it will work out well for you, I know this time must be hard. I'm facing my company closing in about two years and waiting to be laid off to get my severance package. I'm hoping to reinvent myself after over 25 years at the same place so I know what you're going through.

I just don't get it, Dwei. (Pounding her head against the keyboard.) Do people really believe God works by cookie-cutter method? I have a Chinese/Malaysian friend who is over 5'7" and she's a woman - tall in any race. There are Chinese basketball players who would tower over my 6'1 husband. I wish society could get over its need to stereotype. As readers, we love it when characters surprise us by not matching stereotypes. Why can't we learn to expect that in life? Maybe that's what writers are trying to teach....
